Who it is for
It is never too early, or too late, to learn
Living in Southwest Florida means spending a lot of time around water. Knowing how to swim is more than a recreational skill: it can help you feel safer and more comfortable around pools, beaches and everyday activities on the water. Amy teaches anyone who has the desire to learn, regardless of age or starting point.
-
Children learning to swim
For children beginning in the water, lessons start with comfort, awareness and foundational swimming skills. Amy works from where each child is rather than rushing toward the next milestone.
-
Adults learning for the first time
Plenty of adults reach adulthood without ever becoming comfortable swimmers. Lessons are a supportive place to start from the beginning, learn at your own pace and build skills without embarrassment.
-
Swimmers ready to keep improving
Already comfortable in the water but still developing your swimming ability? Amy can build on the skills you have and help you become a more capable swimmer.

Teaching has always been part of who I am
I am Amy Rybicki, a certified teacher, Water Safety Instructor and CPR certified instructor with decades of experience helping people learn.
I have been teaching since 2002, but my background in coaching and instruction began even earlier. Before becoming a classroom teacher I spent 16 years in the fitness industry, and later coached varsity track and field and cross country.
Whether I am working with a student in the classroom, an athlete on the field or someone learning to swim, my approach is much the same: start with where the person is today, build one skill at a time, and give them the support to keep moving forward.

A thoughtful approach
Learn the skills. Understand the water.
Amy’s Water Safety Instructor certification includes training in swimming instruction and water safety for learners across different ages and ability levels. Water safety is not treated as a separate topic. It is part of learning how to become a more capable swimmer.
-
01
Start with where you are
No assumption about what you should already know. Your starting point decides what comes next.
-
02
Get comfortable in the water
Before rushing through swimming skills, Amy works on the fundamentals that help you feel at ease.
-
03
Build one skill at a time
New skills build on the ones before them, so lessons move at a pace that makes sense for the swimmer.
-
04
Keep safety part of every lesson
Water awareness and safe habits stay part of the learning as swimming ability develops.
