Reading and ESL tutoring built around your child

One-to-one tutoring with Amy Rybicki for K–8 students: reading support, and English as a second language for students still finding their footing in English.

  • Reading support

Decoding, fluency, and understanding what they have read.

  • English as a second language

Language support that meets students where they are.

  • Confidence

Room to be wrong, work it out, and get it right without hurry.

Meet the tutor

Hi, I’m Amy

I work one to one with K–8 students on reading and English as a second language, in person around Lee County and virtual.

Every child learns differently, so I start by finding out how yours does. From there I build each session around what they actually need next, at a pace that lets the work settle.

I have been a teacher and a coach for more than 30 years. After earning my degree in education I spent 16 years in the fitness industry, then began teaching PE and Health in 2002, taught at several private schools here in Lee County, and coached varsity track and field and cross country.

Most recently I returned to the classroom in 2023, teaching 4th grade English and social studies. Tutoring lets me give students the thing a classroom never quite can: my full attention.

What Amy Teaches

Focused Support in the Subjects That Build on Everything Else

Every student comes in with a different starting point. One-to-one tutoring gives Amy room to focus on the skills a student needs most instead of trying to fit every child into the same lesson.

Reading

Reading difficulties show up in different ways. Some students struggle to sound out words. Others read the words but have trouble understanding what they have read.

  • Phonics and decoding
  • Reading fluency
  • Vocabulary and comprehension
  • Writing and spelling support

English as a second language

For students learning English alongside everything else school asks of them. Amy is TESOL certified, and lessons build the everyday and classroom English a student actually uses.

  • Speaking and listening confidence
  • Vocabulary for school and daily life
  • Reading and writing in English
  • Support with classroom language
